the Laying Down Game

Laying Down Game  //

The Laying Down Game or LDG is simple.

1. Hit the floor face first.
2. Have your portrait made.
3. Send the best version to submit@layingdowngame.net (file should be < 3 meg)
4. Check out the site and laugh 'til you pee yourself.

Please do not send us anything tremendously gross or offensive as it won't get posted anyway. Try not to get killed or arrested when setting up and making your image.

We are not responsible for anything that happens to you, your property or your reputation as a result of this game. We are also aware of being grammatically incorrect. When using the verb "lay", there should be a direct object which in this case does not exist. Therefore, it would be grammatically correct to call this the "lying down game" but as you can see, we did not do that.

Laying Down- Roots

Dear Kevin, Clare, and Kecia,

AHA!!  I finally discovered the roots of your laying down game when we visited that amazing open-air museum in Hakone (Japan).
We, too, felt inspired, and climbed the unintimidating cable barrier and ignored the sign that said, "Keep off the Grass."
We think we understand why you are compelled to continue...laying down.  :)

Warmly,

Cindy Girroir

Clare's Laying Down in London

Yeah, London was great! We started to ask the bartender if we could do they LDG and he said he knew the game, go ahead. I thought that was pretty funny.

London from Erik

Erik, from Animoto got so jealous about Jason's post and LDG photos, he had to send his in too ;-)...

I've been waiting for the motivation to send these, but here are a few LDG photos of my own from London. Unfortunately none with me laying across the queens lap (I'd put in calls to everyone I knew, but wasn't able to line it up). Quick backgrounds on my LDG photos - which pail in comparison to Jason's:

LDG_LondonEye
This was taken 400' above the Thames. Beautiful and terrifying. This photo was taken in a small glass pod crammed with 25 people (who had to cram into one side so that Abigail could take this photo)

LDG_lion
The Where's Waldo of LDG photos, I did my best to blend into the back of the lion. For what it's worth, the lion was both slippery and satisfying.

LDG_OnTopOfHelicopter!
You have to see this one to believe it. You have to look closely, but I'm actually laying on top of the helicopter near the rotors. It's very difficult to see in this photo, so you'll have to take my word for the most extreme LDG photo ever taken. Factoid - I almost died 3 times in shooting this photo.

LDG_Thames
Here I am laying on the railing above the Thames. It is November, and a fall into the water would have been chilly, but it was worth it.

LDG_TrafalgarSquare
This was the most painful of my London LDG photos. I haven't had it checked out, but I attribute my nearsightedness to this LDG photo. If you look closely you'll see that my face is beet red. Despite that, I was still unable to lock out in true board-stiff, LDG fashion. Also worth noting, the top of the post I'm LDGing on is actually pointy, not round. Extra painful.

London
Nothing LDG about this photo, so don't waste your time looking.

I'll keep working on some better shots. I've seen the shots that Mike Hanline and Jed recently pulled off in front of Mike's jet, and I'm inspired.

Thailand & Cambodia… laying down

Jason from Animoto posted this story and images....

I recently traveled for 10 days with Jen around Thailand & Cambodia.
As only you all could understand & appreciate, this trip to SE Asia
became less of a vacation and more of an obsessed mission to lay down.
Attached are six highlights of our recent travels:

Photo 1. In the mountainous region of northern Thailand near Chiang
Mai, we spent one day venturing up to the highest most point in all of
Thailand. There at the very top of Doi Inthanon mountain (8,408 ft)
sits an incredible structure with a steep staircase leading up to a
beautiful pagoda housing a magnificent 30-foot tall golden statue of
Buddha that people from all over the world come to worship. More
importantly, the staircase was a pretty cool place to lay down.

Photo 2. Next, we were off to southern Thailand where on the crystal
clear waters of the Phi Phi islands just off the coast of Phucket
Thailand, I was struck by how peaceful the beaches were, how warm the
ocean was, and how much sand I kept getting up my nose laying down.

Photos 3-5. After a week in Thailand, we flew to Cambodia to visit
Angkor Wat, the largest temple in the world, and its surrounding 120
sq miles of ancient ruins. The hand-carved stonework dates back over
800 years and could only truly be appreciated up close with one's face
pressed against the oven hot rock.

Photo 6. On our way home from SE Asia, we spent this past weekend in
Dallas, TX to celebrate Jen's dad's 60th. We took a weekend trip to
visit the swamplands of Uncertain, TX. Uncertain is actually the name
of the town, but there's nothing uncertain about how enchanting this
laying down experience proved to be.
